What does my project fee cover?

Your project fee will cover your pre-departure support and materials, food, accommodation, training & orientation, in-country staff, 24-hour in-country support, project materials and on-project transport.

Do I need any experience or qualifications?

Currently we ask our participants to have been in the work environment for a minimum of 3 years or be studying at a university level or be a graduate. You will get specific training to be able to support in-country staff deliver projects but to ensure we are delivering the best services possible to people in need and for you to have the best experience we require you to have the above experience/qualifications.

Is there any age limit?

No, there is no age limit to join our project, however, there is a minimum age of 18.

I am not from the UK can I still apply?

Yes. However, we do require that you speak English, as this is the primary language of our in-country staff.

How far in advance should I book?

Typically projects are booked 6-12months in advance, we are a small organisation and have limited availability so it’s good to book in advance to ensure your space. You can contact us to check the availability!

Can I come with friends or as a couple?

Yes. Couples and friends are welcome, dependent on the size of the group and availability. Please be aware that we do not guarantee private accommodation at any of our locations.

Is there a selection process?

Yes, a completed application form is required for all projects. This is essential for your safety and enjoyment as well as the success of the project. We will request a time to call/video chat with you to discuss your eligibility for the project you have applied for.

Can I travel before/after?

Of course you can! Many participants come early to get settled, whilst others choose to stay a bit longer, we do recommend that you have a visa to accommodate for this. Our projects allow for you to slowly acclimatise to a country before you head of alone to explore.

How do I know TSAP/TSAP Travel is reputable?

We are new into the industry for 2022 but we are here to make a true difference to current voluntourism practices. Whilst many organisations have been delivering projects around the world and have been featured in a variety of news outlets, TSAP Travel have acknowledged alongside others that there are flaws in the current ways organisations are doing things.

TSAP Travel is here to ignite change in the industry and we are looking for people like YOU to support us in delivering that change.

How much does it cost?

The cost of the project will vary depending on the length of time you want to participate in a project. Project prices can be found here.

Are there any extra costs?

Currently for our projects the only extra money you will need is spending money (for weekend trips, meals out and souvenirs).

How can I pay?

A non-refundable deposit of £150 has to be paid at the time of booking to secure your place, then all project fees have to be paid 6 weeks prior to commencement of project (unless you fundraise through our website). You can pay project fees through bank transfer.

Can I fundraise?

Can you arrange my flights?

We recommend consulting various flight comparison and airline direct web pages online to get the best possible flight price for your chosen TSAP Travel project destination.

Do I need insurance?

YES.

Do I need a visa?

For our current projects they require a visa, if you need more information please contact us.

Will I be met at the airport?

An in-country staff member will always meet you at the airport upon arrival, unless stated otherwise.

What support and guidance can I expect?

We pride ourselves on having good in-country connections and knowledge of the needs of the community. Meanwhile, our staff come well-informed and experienced. On our projects you will be working directly with full-time trained in-country staff and gain a UK based professional mentor.

What is the accommodation like?

Accommodation will often, not always, be more basic than what you would expect on a tourist holiday or guided tour and are often shared with your fellow participants. For more detailed information please contact us.

What is the food like?

The food will be nutritious and healthy, including vegetarian and vegan options where required & we endeavour to make foods similar to that of the country you’re in!

What happens if I have a special dietary requirement?

We do our best to provide special dietary requirements and majority of the time it is not a problem but please make a staff member aware upon booking of any special dietary requirements.

Do I need to be physically fit?

Our projects typically require a moderate level of fitness especially if you want to make the most of your time there. If you have any concerns please contact us to find out more.

Will I have any free time?

We always try to ensure participants get evenings and weekends off to explore the country and visit the neighbouring islands of Nosy be. However, sometimes we will deliver projects in the evenings and weekends.

How does TSAP Travel make sure I am safe while I am on project?

The health and safety of all TSAP Travel participants is paramount. In view of this, TSAP Travel has compiled strict systems and procedures, including the presence of long term staff on the ground who work closely with local people and partners to ensure they are up to date with local developments and activities on the ground. We periodically review risk assessments for our locations and projects, and have in place emergency action plans for a variety of scenarios, protocols for incidents and in-country staff members are required to report any incidents and report to UK TSAP staff members to ensure we are always providing the right information and are up to date with local and regional developments. All our participants and staff receive an orientation and have permission to decline to participate if they feel unsafe. All staff and participants have access to 24-hour emergency support, including senior staff on standby both in-country and in the UK in the case of incident or concern. TSAP Travel projects all host regular health and safety meeting to review any incidents, near misses and concerns, on top of the standard briefings and edit and update procedures where necessary.

What happens if there is an emergency?

Our staff are fully informed how to deal with any type of emergency and all on project staff are connected with staff in the UK 24/7. In case of an emergency you will have access to first aid trained staff member and in-country staff members can support you in receiving local medical treatment.

Are there any medical restrictions?

All participants will need to sign off on any disclosed medical conditions from a qualified GP/Doctor and admission to your project is subject to consideration of all medical conditions so we can ensure the safety of all participants.

Can I get a job with TSAP Travel?

Occasionally in-country positions are available for new projects, as well as opportunities to work remotely and in the UK.
