Sunset strays
Sunset Strays is a project dedicated to improving the lives of street dogs in Nosy be, Madagascar. Unfortunately, these kind-hearted souls are feared by locals, often dying of starvation or in road accidents, many are suffering.
After seeing how much love the street dogs have to give despite their harsh treatment, TSAP Travel have decided to do something about it. Over the next year (2023-2024) we are on mission to build the FIRST dog rescue in the north of Madagascar on the island of Nosy be.
It has been and continues to be a long process as we have carried out extensive research and have engaged with over 100 locals, as we worked to understand whether or not this would benefit the local community.
However, we will always come back to Gladis, a dear friend of ours and entrepreneur. Gladis, like many Malagasy people is scared of dogs, she was bitten when she was younger, she hears them bark in the street late at night, she’s never owned a dog as a pet or a friend. Every night Gladis walks down the street a dog or two will greet her and it scares her and we want people like Gladis to feel confident when walking home. Not only is Sunset Strays designed to help the street dogs but it has been created to empower local people and ensure they feel safe when walking on the island they call home.
SAVE THE DOGS OF MADAGASCAR
None of what we do in Madagascar would be possible without your support, but we want to make sure you’re not donating into the abyss. So we have a variety of projects and things you can support through your donations. You can purchase workbooks for our students, support our teachers or you can support Sunset Strays… if you donate towards our Sunset Strays dog rescue you will get the opportunity to name a dog and your name will be on the wall of our cafe once built.
